Unicycle on the Shinkansen
By Rodent | November 8, 2007
Tomorrow I’m testing to see if people care if I take my 36er on the Shikansen. Bike bags are required to take bikes on any train in the country, so last night I went out to a hardware store to find something I could use. I didn’t want to spend the money on a real bike bag (and I wasn’t sure if they’d even be big enough). I eventually came across the wonderful world of tarps! I happily rushed home with my golden find of a tarp and a nice big roll of duct tape. A man couldn’t be happier.
Today after work I wrapped up my unicycle (after removing the pedals and seat/seatpost). It’s a wonderful sight, complete with duct tape carrying handle.
I look forward to the Shinkansen ride tomorrow. Oh yeah, I get to see Beth and stop by Chiba for a the brilliant green concert. It should be a grand ol’ weekend, with me arriving back in Fukushima on Monday. Yippee.

Pink vacuum cleaner head is displayed for size comparison, though objects may still be larger than they appear.

A duct-tape handle. Duct tape does indeed solve everything, and I’m glad you took that good lesson from college. :p -D

Angry Alex looks happy and I laugh at him.
