First Imperial Century

By | June 21, 2008

I was trying to update every Friday, but that didn’t work out. Too bad.

Anyway, for those who don’t know (which is probably most everyone reading this), as of a few months ago I put my unicycle to the side and bought a new bike. I’ve been wanting to do more distance stuff, and as fun as unicycling is I don’t really like it for trips over about 20 miles.

Since buying it I’ve been getting around 20km-40km of riding on weekdays, more on the weekend. Today I left at about noon to go explore the northeast side of Fukushima City, but due to a few reasons and turns I eventually found myself on the way to Sendai, which is up Miyagi, the prefecture north of us.

I just kept on going until I reached Sendai, ate dinner, then turned around and went back. The 80km or so back was all in the dark. Fun.

Medium story short, by the time I got home I had rode 176km (~109 miles), which means that I have now completed my very first cycling imperial century.

I’m happy and a bit sore.
