31-Legged Racing

By | December 9, 2007

I wasn’t in that great of a mood tonight. Japan was starting to grate on me, and I really just wanted a big cheap pepperoni pizza.

To alleviate some of the night’s boredom I turned on my TV and flipped around, hoping that something good would be on.

My needs were met.

When I turned on the TV I was met with an amazing sight–that of a total of 60 elementary schools kids racing against each other in a 31-legged race.

Japan, just when I thought were you about to lose a round you suddenly came up from behind and gave yourself a smashing victory.

But sadly, not all was fun and games. You see, for every winner in this race, there’s 30 nationally televised elementary school losers, and they absolutely break down bawling whenever they lose. And the camera loves showing it off.

This is Saitama, failing.

Japan, you win this round.

That’s social unity right there.

Oh thank you.

I blame Beth for IMing me while I was doing such an important activity as recording Japanese TV.

For the record, we bet on who would be the eventual winner in the tournament. I bet on Okinawa and she bet on Kumamoto. Kumamoto won. I owe Beth a dinner :(

Because Kumamot pwnd. They were together!

Plus all of the smack talk their leader was saying, they had to win. Otherwise… Well, that would be embarassing.
